Microsoft did themselves a disservice by adding the Windows Firewall to the
server products.

You should not be using the Windows Firewall on a server.

You HAVE to get a full featured firewall to protect your network and servers.

Hey Everyone,

I would like to lock down my Exchange server by activating the Windows Firewall
(Server 2003 Standard and Exchange 2003 Enterprise). When I activated the
firewall, I thought I allowed all the proper exceptions but I was not able to
connect with Outlook. I know that port selection is dynamic in a lot of cases
but does anyone know of any specific port I should be allowing in order to
successfully connect an Outlook client (from the inside of the network, same
subnet as the Exchange server)?? Any help anyone would give would be great!

Rich
