yes, I was doing "brick level" backups. Using that tape to do the restore.
Not sure how big the mailbox use, but > 1.2 Gig. The size of the mailbox
keeps getting bigger as the restore goes on.

Um, exactly how big was this mailbox and/or database?  Were you doing
"brick" backups?  

 

Even allowing for a really, really slow backup system, 260+ hours is a
little over the top for a restore...  Is this from tape?  If so, how many
times have you had to change the media?  

 

Perhaps you should investigate whether something is messed up with the
restore.

Does anyone know when doing a mailbox restore in Exchange 5.5 if the oldest
items get restored first. Or do the newest items get restored first.

I am restoring a mailbox that got accidentally deleted and it has been
running for 260+ hours.
