I'm running 2000 instead of 5.5 but I had a similar problem w/ the Arcserve Exchange agent. I don't remember the exact error but it required me uninstalling the agent from the server and then reinstalling. I hate Arcserve! :-) Regards, Mike Liddekee Network Engineer Humco Holding Group, Inc. 7400 Alumax Dr. Texarkana, TX 75501 Ph: (903) 831-7808 ext 697 -----Original Message----- From: Kamire, Thomas [mailto:Thomas.Kamire@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Tuesday, October 07, 2003 12:04 AM To: [ExchangeList] Subject: [exchangelist] Exchange 5.5 Database Inconsistency http://www.MSExchange.org/ I am currently running Exchange 5.5 which I am using arcserve to back it up but currently the arcserve cannot do the backup and it gives the error below: E8604 Failed to start backup. (DBNAME= Information Store, EC=Backup Agent Error ----- (68) "Error status in name pipe.".) E8602 Failed to read from database. (DBNAME=Directory, EC=Backup Agent Error ---- (305) "Exchange Server Error. HrBackupOpenFile failed. Check Backup Agent Activity Log".) Could someone give me the way forward on these errors. Might it be that my database in Exchange are inconsistent. Regards Thomas E. Kamire Systems Engineer Kenya Airways Ltd, P.O.
