People are not understanding the point. He was not even asking an Exchange
question. He did not take the time to first understand how exactly e-mail in
general works including the needed basic steps, in this case how to set up
DNS records that are required by the Internet for e-mail delivery and
receipt to work.

An analogy:

What he is asking is not how to fix the engine or make it better which is
what the list is for, he is stating some one told him he has to put gas in
the car first and he wants to know how. If you do not know how to put gas in
the car or why, you should not be touching the engine.

Wasn't going to put in my 2 cents, but, I must say that I agree with George.
I once posted a question, was totally belittled and humiliated by someone,
but I just blew it off. I don't take what you guys state personally, I just
realize you must have the ultimate job, with time to spare to only work on
one thing...Exchange. There are a lot of us out here that take care of much
more things, such as the phone switch, voicemail, printers, copiers,
printing equipment, designer software, servers, WSUS, websites, help desk,
and yes, Exchange, along with everything in the building that has a chip in
it. I am an island, and if you can't throw me an oar once in a while, well,
as our Mothers always said "If you can't say anything nice, then don't say
anything at all."

Just my opinion. Can't we all "just get along" and help people out? Isn't
that why we are all here?

So instead of helping the guy out you belittle him...you must be in
management.

Being a newbie to Exchange is one thing. That is not the subject of the
Rant, if you would reread it.

No one should be touching any e-mail server without understanding the basics
of how e-mail and SMTP work first.

I hate to say this; I think there was a time that everyone that subscribes to
this list was a newbie at one time or another. I obviously missed the level of
expertise requirement when I signed up for this list.
