Exchange 2000 - triggering email collection

This is a follow up question to the etrn question posted earlier...

If you have Exchange 2000 and collect email via smtp, how can you tell
Exchange to try and collect email now. I know the pop3 connector has a
retrieve now button, can you do the same thing with SMTP?
