In IIS there is nothing to see in the right-hand pane for the Exchange directory. Right-click it in the left-hand pane and choose Properties. It should show content coming from "a directory located on this computer" and a local path of: \\.\BackOfficeStorage\your-domain.com\MBX with all of the checkboxes under local path checked. I wouldn't expect that typing \\.\BackOfficeStorage <file://./BackOfficeStorage> at the command prompt is supposed to do anything at all.
