I will send you a salesy email off-list.

We, like most service providers these days, have an AUP that prohibits
spam and anything illegal (such as child porn). I would guess that you
already have corporate policies against those anyway.

You can run whatever you want.

The market for Exchange hosting is differentiated by lots of providers
that provide lots of slightly different things. All provide email and
the Outlook client over RPC/HTTPS. Differentiating factors become
diskspace, public folders (this is a BIGGIE), pre-XP client support,
customer support (email vs. telephone and 7 day vs. business days),
backups, and deleted item retention (another real BIGGIE).

Well - what are the pros and cons for doing this - outsourcing - is it
costly
- can we send to 1500 on one distribution list if we outsource - are we
bound by rules that we would not be bound by when I can turn around
right now and look at the Exchange Server? I think there is probably no
doubt that it might be less expensive to outsource than to keep
replacing servers every three years - but maybe that's not necessarily
true either.

My office (because we are so small) is thinking about outsourcing email
to a larger company that can deal with replacing servers, etc. and
keeping down costs I am trying to gather the PRO's and CON's so I can
make a valuable presentation.

When asked the question what do we lose by outsourcing our email - I am
not sure since we have not tried this configuration except to have AOL -
which I am really not fond of.
I would appreciate your input if you have time - I know this may be a
little off the norm for this list - but you have helped me considerably
in past months
