In Exchange 5.5, can't you just create a rule in the mailbox that
forwards everything to an external email address?

Create a Custom Recipient that points to their external mailbox, and
then
open the users mailbox properties in Exchange Administrator and there is

option to send the mail to an alternate recipient (sorry cannot remember
which tab), pick the custom recipient you created and away you go.

I know this issue has been posted before but I wasn't clear on the
