sounds like your log files are taking up your space ... *move your log files (root\excsrvr\mdbdata\*.log ) to a drive that has enough space (use the server manager mmc to change the location, it will do the move for you automaticaly) ... *start/ mount your databases .. *perform a full backup of your exchange server ... an exchange backup, not just a data backup ... (this will clear your log files) now either move the log file location back to it's original location, or keep them wehre they are ... you may want to look into circular logging (only 4 log files that are rotated) ... even though it is not recommended, it may be advisable for some situuations ... also check your badmail directory like suggested by another person ... mike -----Original Message----- From: Tyler Bowen [mailto:tbowen@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Mon 9/29/2003 4:57 AM To: [ExchangeList] Cc: Subject: [exchangelist] RE: Drive M out of space http://www.MSExchange.org/ I guess my question should be - will removing the M drive give me anymore drive space than what I have available now? I moved mailboxes totalling 1gb of data but instead of gaining any drive space on C - I lost space. The mailboxes were moved to a new storage group on a new drive and all of the databases have been moved to the new drive. Removing the M drive (using Microsoft's script) will not cause any lost data for the users? Thanks for everything so far! Better still, search the MSKB for the script that removes the M: mapping. Neil _____ From: Tyler Bowen [mailto:tbowen@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: 29 September 2003 09:08 To: [ExchangeList] http://www.MSExchange.org/ I have a new customer running Win2K server and Exchange 2000 ( only 1 server in the company). Their C drive is out of space hence the Exchange IFS Drive M is also out of space. I have moved the Exchange database locations, created a new storage group on a new drive and moved several users with the largest mailboxes to the new Storage Group. Can I move the physical location of Drive M? However, drive M is still out of space as well as drive C. Any suggestions?
