Disabling user cause Veritas backup failure.

I disabled a user in AD Users & Computes.


Veritas 8.0 with Exchange add in does a nightly backup.


About a week after disabling the user, Veritas reported that the backup
technically failed because it could not access that user's mail box.


The question is why did it complain a week later? 


Does disabling a user with Exchange attributes cause the mailbox to be
unavailable also?


If so, why did it take a week?
