This problem is on the DS not the IS. So this would not work.

Have you defraged the database. If not then defrag it and check integrity
using "isinteg -patch" command. Also run mtacheck command. This should solve
your problem.

I was trying to start the service but in vain. It gave me this error:
"Could not start the Microsoft Exchange Directory Service on Local computer.
The service did not start an error. This could be an internal Windows error
or an internal service error.
If the problem persists, contact your system administrator."
Please could someone assist me to sort this problem. By the way if I copy
the dsdata folder which is an older version it works.
