RE: Database .edb defragment

If you backup the information store you will get rid of most of the transaction 
log files.  Defregmantation of the database is for a different purpose.

It is quite straight forward.  If you use windows backup on the same
exchange machine, there is an option to backup the exchange information
store.

The log files are reduced or deleted by doing a full exchange backup.  The
size of the edb file decreases when you remove some mails from the
information store
