Thanks for the quick response.

I'm moving users to a new mail server, but until the move is finished, I want
those who have moved to the new server to be able to send and receive email
throught the original public Exchange MTA.

Exchange1       <---->  Exchange2
SMTP (public)

Is it best to use a smarthost setting on Exchange2's SMTP prot that points to
the FQDN of Exchange1 and not use an SMTP connector at all?

Thank you,
Camey

Do you mean to have an Exchange setup that uses a smarthost such as a *nix
based MTA? If so, then yes, a SMTP connector would likely be the way you'd
want to do that.

What is the recommended method for connecting two Exchange 2000 Servers so
that SMTP mail is being routed to and from one mail server?
Is it best to use an SMTP Connector?

Best regards,
Camey
