Dear Saleem,

I'm not sat at a W2K server at present but I think that it is possible
to
change the password manually.

I agree with everything everyone else has said about setting the
administrator password in an extremely secure way and only logging on as
"administrator" very occasionally but in my case I have inherited a
system
where the only administrative ID was "Administrator". In my early days
of
little experience I just tried to change it and it became clear very
quickly
that many other services could not then run, because they were dependent
upon the "administrator" ID and its password.

I think that if you open up "services" from the control panel you can go
through each service that is running and examine the "start up"
properties.
I think that this also gives you the opportunity to change the password.
I
haven't yet plucked up the courage to do this and would welcome advice
from
others as to whether or not my view is right.

Sincerely

David S.

Blast shields up, admonishment below.

The administrator account should never be used except for emergency, and
should be a never changing un-expiring 15 character
alpha-numeric-special
password.

If you change the password without the help of a 3rd party app, you are
likely to face humongous problems because if they are forcing you to
change
it, that means it is commonly used and everything is probably installed
with
it.
