I've got a copy of ISA ent lying around and I've been thinking long and
hard about setting it up on this network and doing away with this
linksys. From what I've read so far, the learning curve is tremendous
and it demands special attention when being used on dsl connections.

I had a similar case when I upgraded to e2k below is the notes from the
case:

1. checking internal mail - ok
2. send message to domain for NDR - no NDR received
3. telnetting to 209.190.1.217 - flashing cursor, will not take any
commands. drops connection 4. same response from port 110 5. checking
apps/system events on ISA - nothing 6. conf ISA (for inbound mail flow
ISA) 7. get ISA Info
8. telnet from ISA to EXG on 25 ==> OK
9. change Protocol Rule for Access to allow for everyone not just
specified users 10. restart the ISA service (went down did not come
back up), restart the box 11. test telnet= still can not telnet to
external port 25 & get redirected to XCG 12. delete wizard rules,
restart and recreate a. del protocol rules wizard
b. del srv pub rules from wizard
c. del Mail Wizard Set under Client Address Set
d. remove wrong addr from LAT
1)From : 172.16.1.1 to : 172.31.255.255
13. reboot
14. run sec mail wizard
15. reboot
16. test = still can not connect
17. get netmon
a. capturing on the internal adapter while we try to telnet through, get
trace b. smtp packets may be going through ISA c. getting second trace
and ping the internal adapter from XCG while we do d. getting third
trace while having ISA telnet to 25 on E2K 18. stopped SMTP svc to
verify same response when telnetting in. If Exchange is the problem,
should get "dead network" response. a. telnet gives same blinking
cursor, not "dead network" b. restart SMTP svc 19. test via telnet to
send message from ISA to E2K - able to send and is received 20. check
for gateway on Exchange a. no gateway listed, adding gateway for
internal ISA (another issue - networking) b. E2K services will not
start. if remove gateway, svc will start 21. Checking DNS (another
issue - networking) a. set DNS to be internal only b. set forwarders on
DNS to ISP (verify for all DNS) c. reboot E2K box, all services now
start 22 test telnet and mailflow a. can telnet to port 25 external on
ISA and the exchange server responds b. tested mail flow in and out with
outlook and telent - ok 23. set the restrictions on the Protocol rules
24. verify mail flow - okay
25. outgoing mail not working (another issue - for outgoing XCON ) a.
added SMTP connector to verify mail flow - ok b. conf isa (for outgoing
ISA) 26. checking traces for outbound traffic a. no DNS is going
through ISA 27. Conf networking 28. verifying protocol rules a. one rule
for only selected clients allowed, one for SMTP b. changed the all IP
traffic rule to allow all and mail could go out c. created a seperate
protocol rule for DNS name resolution to allow only the DNS servers out
and then changed the allow all IP traffic rule to the specified client
set

Right now I had it set up in a DMZ on this linksys router for testing
purposes but it doesn't seem to be working either way.

I cannot connect to mail.nubiint.com on port 25, what are your SMTP
Virtual Server settings, has your firewall/router changed?

I don't understand why I'm unable to receive any email on my e2k server
but I'm able to constantly get these freaking messenger popups. Can
anyone assist with this issue? I can send mail from both the POP3 &
Exchange account services that are configured on this server, I just
can't get any email.
