When you send an email to the Public folder, doesn't it automatically
become an IPM.Note? (I am not referring to posted items) I have several
Public folders email enabled, can reply to the sender just by doing a
reply. Never did any registry changes.

It changes incoming public folder messages to email format rather then
post format therefore you can reply to them.

Again, why do you have to do all these registry changes ?
It is possible to use a different From without doing all these ...

I forgot, you have to do this first.

Permit the caching of incoming SMTP messages as IPM.Note in Exchange
Server 2003.

The message class of incoming messages to public folders may be
changed to IPM.Note (instead of IPM.Post), by creating the \"Incoming
defaults to IPM.Note\" registry value in the following registry subkey:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\System\\CurrentControlSet\\Services\\MSExchangeIS\\\
\Public-
Value name: Incoming defaults to IPM.Note Value type: DWORD Value data:
0 or 1 (0 is default value) (0=false)

Important This value name is case-sensitive. The default behavior
without the registry key is that incoming messages appear as IPM.Post.
If you set the registry value to 0 (zero), the default behavior
continues, and incoming messages appear as IPM.Post. If you set the
registry value to 1, the behavior changes, and new SMTP mail messages
from a non-MAPI source appear as IPM.Note.

To enable this functionality, you must configure these registry settings
on all Exchange servers that host public folders. You do not have to
configure these registry settings on Exchange servers that do not host
public folders. Additionally, you must configure these registry settings
for each public folder database on the particular server where you want
to enable this functionality.

After you make these registry changes, you must restart the Microsoft
Exchange Information Store service to enable this new functionality.

Just use view reply from.

That's how we do it here.

You will need a shared mailbox rather than a Public folder to do that.

I have a couple of mail enable public folders that are used by the
library folks. What they want to do is reply to mail sent to that
folder as the folder instead of their username. Is this possible and
how can I set it up. There are 4 librarians responsible for monitoring
this list and they want any replies to peplies and so forth to end up in
the folder so that everyone involve will know what has been done for a
specific problem. I also have another group that use the OWA to view
their mail. Is there a way to do the same for them? These people are
contractors and do not log on to the domain.

The haggis is unusual in that it is neither consistently nocturnal nor
diurnal, but instead is active at dawn and dusk (crepuscular), with
occasional forays forth during the day and night.
