(this is really fun having to open attachments to see your mail ;)
Have you isolated what is different about the messages? Have you tried to
open the messages via POP (telnet) to see if it's a client rendering issue?
Have you checked the headers to see what is added to the client at every
hop?
Have you tried having the affected clients send to multiple recipients both
inside and outside your org on the same message to see if you can isolate
the problem host in the path? If so, what was the result of that test?
