Back-up create new log on MDBDATA

Hi all,
I'm facing with this weird incident to my customer
Exchange 2K Server.
When they view their MDBDATA folder in Exchange
folder, they only see 4-5 E00000x.log files. But when
they run their schedule back-up, at the end of the
back-up they see, the is lots of new log files
created, it is about 20-30 log files created.
Is this normal or something wrong with their Exchange
or their back-up software?
FYI, they're using ArcServe Back-up with Exchange open
agent.
