Ok, i got the event service running, and the permissions is set to
editor for the default user. On my client I can see the agents tab for
my inbox. I created a new rule to be process when a new item somes in.
I posted my script that worked in Exchange 5.5 into the rule. Then sent
a new meeting request to myself, and the meeting still is not being
accepted. My calendar default permission setting is set to author. I
am running Outlook 2002, but i don't know if that would have anything to
do with it.
Let me know if you know why this might now be working. Could I get a
copy of the script you're using to see if this would work? I'd also
like to ask how many people you have setup using this and does it cause
a performance hit and does it take a while before the server can process
all the mail boxes to accept new meetings. Thanks for all your help so

Do you have the Exchange Event Service running...I think I also ran into
this problem. Verify in your services that the event service is
running.

I got to step 3 and I'm not seeing the EventConfig_servername. How do I
get this to show up?

To Grant permissions to run agents on Exchange Server...
1) Make sure Microsoft Exchange Event Service is running.
2) In Exchange System Mgr, Expand the Folders container, right click on
Public Folders, and select View System Folders.
3) Expand Events Root container, right click the EventConfig_servername
container and select Properties.
4) Select Permissions, select Client Permissions, Add the user account
or exchange mail group using the add button.Set Client Permissions to
Editor. In our case,
since I did not want to add every user individually or by group, I
just set User:Default to Role:Editor, then everyone gets it.
If you are going to be adding the script from everyone's client, you
need to do this on each client to put the Agents tab there. I added all
of mine from a client logged in
as administrator, so I only did this once, on that client:
1) >From OL Client, select Tools, Options, Other, Advanced Options, Add
in manager, and put a checkbox next to Server Scripting.

Got a question or two. We are just now setting up our exchange 2000
server from scratch. We had a Exchange server 5.5 setup with the
autoaccept script working, but it was not in production, we were just
doing testing with this. To add the script to a mailbox in 5.5 we added
it in the Agents tab inside the inbox. When we setup exchange 2000 we
didn't have this tab anywhere. What steps do I need to take to install
the script on a mailbox in Exchange 2000? Thanks for you help so far.
We have been looking at tons of sites trying to find a solution to this
and you're the first only good resource we have found. I have a books
that talk about event sinks, and such, but none of them tell me how to
install or where to write the script out.

Joel, we had this same need when we moved our company from a mainframe
based email system to Exchange 2000 last year. Also, setting the
"Automatically Accept Meeting and Process Cancellations" setting only
works if the Outlook client is running. So if a user was out of the
office, nothing got accepted! We are running the autoaccept script that
has been modified to add some additional features. Our clients are all
OL2000.
1) The script detects the meeting request and checks the users
calendar for availabilility. If the user is available, it returns the
acceptance to the sender AND sends
the person who is being scheduled a meeting confirmation
message to their inbox so that they know they have been scheduled for a
meeting.
2) In the case of recurring meetings, we do not do any checking for
conflicts, the script processes the meeting no matter what. We did this
because if you scheduled
a recurring meeting, for say 12 times a year, and 10 months
down the road, the user had a conflict, all 12 were rejected. So for
recurring meetings, everything
is automatically accepted.
When using the script:
You need to set everyone's default calendar permission to REVIEWER and
do NOT check the box for "Automatically Accept Meeting and Process
Cancellations" .
You then install the script as an agent on everyone's inbox. Let me

We are currently just starting an Exchange 2000 server in our company.
We have been testing with an Exchange 5.5 server for a while, but we
just recently got a Windows 2000 Server w/ AD running in production and
thought it would be nice to have Exchange 2000 from the start. We are
planning on using Outlook 2002 clients, but we may be able to make a
switch to a previous release if the solution will only work on say
Outlook 97, or 2000. The biggest concern we are having is that when we
send out a meeting request to a person, we'd like that person to accept
it automatically. This is the closest we have got a working solution:
Setting the "Automatically Accept Meeting and Process Cancellations"
within the calander options makes it so that if we send a meeting
request to a person then that meeting will be accepted. The only
problem is that meeting request is sent to the deleted items. We really
need it to stay in the inbox so that the person is aware they have a
meeting. PLEASE, if anyone out there has a workable solution or has a
fix for this please let me know. Thanks in advance for you're help!
