I think you can do it but it is related with windows 2000 not exchange .In
windows 2000 help you can find very detailed knowledge how to do load
balancing . A bit diffcult...

Not a solution in exchange but may be helpfull: if you have to W2k advanced server you can use load balancing and use two machines at the same time.
