Talk about putting all your eggs in one basket... -----Original Message----- From: Alfonso Lopez de Ayala [mailto:alopezdeayala@xxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Tuesday, 24 September 2002 4:14 a.m. To: [ExchangeList] Subject: [exchangelist] RE: Active Directory http://www.MSExchange.org/ Microsoft officially recommends that any box(ex) running Exchange NOT be a DC. Having said this, I'll say that I run everything you can think of in just one box, and it works fine (after a lot of config pains, tho, and with a few odds and ends I'm still solving). Note: "everything you can think of" includes DC, DNS, DHCP, Exchange2k, OWA w/ SSL, ISA2k, VPN (both to remote DC and for Win XP clients), RIS, Dfs, GPOs, Roaming Profiles, Folder Redirections, scheduled tape backups (of files, AD & Exchange databases), logon scripts, Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition (Server), SQL Server 2k, .Net Framework, a couple of dynamic ASPNET sites, etc. Alfonso -----Original Message----- From: Elias, Delores [mailto:delias@xxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Monday, September 23, 2002 8:56 AM To: [ExchangeList] Subject: [exchangelist] RE: Active Directory http://www.MSExchange.org/ We've been told by a couple of consultants to make it a member server and let another box act as DC. -----Original Message----- From: Roberto Hernandez [mailto:rhernandez@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Monday, September 23, 2002 11:54 AM To: [ExchangeList] Subject: [exchangelist] Active Directory http://www.MSExchange.org/ Is it a good idea to make the exchange server a DC or a member server? ------------------------------------------------------ List Archives: http://www.webelists.com/cgi/lyris.pl?enter=exchangelist Exchange Newsletters: http://www.msexchange.org/pages/newsletter.asp Exchange FAQ: http://www.msexchange.org/pages/larticle.asp?type=FAQ ------------------------------------------------------ ISA Server Resource Site: http://www.isaserver.org Windows Security Resource Site: http://www.windowsecurity.com/ Windows 2000/NT Fax Solutions: http://www.ntfaxfaq.com ------------------------------------------------------ You are currently subscribed to this MSExchange.org Discussion List as: delias@xxxxxxxxxx To unsubscribe send a blank email to $subst('Email.Unsub') ------------------------------------------------------ List Archives: http://www.webelists.com/cgi/lyris.pl?enter=exchangelist Exchange Newsletters: http://www.msexchange.org/pages/newsletter.asp Exchange FAQ: http://www.msexchange.org/pages/larticle.asp?type=FAQ ------------------------------------------------------ ISA Server Resource Site: http://www.isaserver.org Windows Security Resource Site: http://www.windowsecurity.com/ Windows 2000/NT Fax Solutions: http://www.ntfaxfaq.com ------------------------------------------------------ You are currently subscribed to this MSExchange.org Discussion List as: alopezdeayala@xxxxxxxxxxxx To unsubscribe send a blank email to $subst('Email.Unsub') ------------------------------------------------------ List Archives: http://www.webelists.com/cgi/lyris.pl?enter=exchangelist Exchange Newsletters: http://www.msexchange.org/pages/newsletter.asp Exchange FAQ: http://www.msexchange.org/pages/larticle.asp?type=FAQ ------------------------------------------------------ ISA Server Resource Site: http://www.isaserver.org Windows Security Resource Site: http://www.windowsecurity.com/ Windows 2000/NT Fax Solutions: http://www.ntfaxfaq.com ------------------------------------------------------ You are currently subscribed to this MSExchange.org Discussion List as: steve.byrne@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx To unsubscribe send a blank email to $subst('Email.Unsub')
