hi All .... i think rajnish has asked question regarding exchange 5.5 server.. i have tried running ESEUTIL with 12 GB of datbase but on a 5.5 enterprise edition and it worked, i was able to reduce the size by 3 GB, as the database was not defraged for more then a year. Thanks & Regards, Vijay Dogra. -----Original Message----- From: Zentarra, Marco [mailto:marco.zentarra@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Thursday, December 18, 2003 12:46 PM To: [ExchangeList] Subject: [exchangelist] AW: RE: [exchangelist]Re: Exchange Server Backup http://www.MSExchange.org/ Hey for some questions from you check the MS knowledgebase (search for "eseutil") there you´ll find almost everything (defrag, backup, etc.) but i think you really should set up a new exchangeserver and move all the mailboxes into it (its really easy, you can to it with Active Directory users & computers tool) i think to make a backup is nuts, your database wont get smaller after a backup, will it?? If you want to use larger bases and/or multiply storage you should use Enterprise edition. [by the way, sorry for my bad english] that offlinedefrag with eseutil do not work correctly in the case that the DB is as big as it was (16GB). so we had to set up a new store (in fact we had to set up a new exchangeserver, cuz you cant make a new store when one store is as big as 16GB) and moved all mailboxes in it. that worked for us. offline defrag with eseutil work, too. but i´ve found out that it only work correctly when the database isnt that big.
