If it's just a few accounts, you might consider exmerging the mailboxes to a pst file, and then reinstall everything. But I don't know if exmerge will work without a DC alive... Possibly. I think. I've never tried it, but it seems like there should be a way to make that work. This of course assumes you have a good backup of Exchange. -----Original Message----- From: Dean [mailto:dean@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Tuesday, April 26, 2005 10:24 PM To: [ExchangeList] Subject: [exchangelist] AD Failure and Exchange 2000 http://www.MSExchange.org/ I lost my only DC (bad mistake on my part to only have one) with a hardware failure. My backups are bad as well. My exchange 2000 server is installed on a seperate machine and is not accessible. Do I have any options in moving this server to a new domain? My gut feel is NO. But I thought that I would ask anyway. It's a very small system (my home system) so that would explain why I don't have a recovery paln in place. Any suggestions? thanks dean ------------------------------------------------------ List Archives: http://www.webelists.com/cgi/lyris.pl?enter=exchangelist Exchange Newsletters: http://www.msexchange.org/pages/newsletter.asp Exchange FAQ: http://www.msexchange.org/pages/larticle.asp?type=FAQ ------------------------------------------------------ Other Internet Software Marketing Sites: World of Windows Networking: http://www.windowsnetworking.com Leading Network Software Directory: http://www.serverfiles.com No.1 ISA Server Resource Site: http://www.isaserver.org Windows Security Resource Site: http://www.windowsecurity.com/ Network Security Library: http://www.secinf.net/ Windows 2000/NT Fax Solutions: http://www.ntfaxfaq.com ------------------------------------------------------ You are currently subscribed to this MSEXchange.org Discussion List as: rickb@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx To unsubscribe visit http://www.webelists.com/cgi/lyris.pl?enter=exchangelist Report abuse to listadmin@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx ------------------------------------------------------ List Archives: http://www.webelists.com/cgi/lyris.pl?enter=exchangelist Exchange Newsletters: http://www.msexchange.org/pages/newsletter.asp Exchange FAQ: http://www.msexchange.org/pages/larticle.asp?type=FAQ ------------------------------------------------------ Other Internet Software Marketing Sites: World of Windows Networking: http://www.windowsnetworking.com Leading Network Software Directory: http://www.serverfiles.com No.1 ISA Server Resource Site: http://www.isaserver.org Windows Security Resource Site: http://www.windowsecurity.com/ Network Security Library: http://www.secinf.net/ Windows 2000/NT Fax Solutions: http://www.ntfaxfaq.com ------------------------------------------------------ You are currently subscribed to this MSEXchange.org Discussion List as: dennis.appelboom@xxxxx To unsubscribe visit http://www.webelists.com/cgi/lyris.pl?enter=exchangelist Report abuse to listadmin@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
