-------------------------------------------------------Exchange 2003 SP2. I
must have missed the lesson, but is it default
behaviour to not relay mail from the server itself or LAN clients?
Refresh my memory on how exactly Outlook clients (Exchange configured)
send email to the Internet through an Exchange server.

c:\telnet localhost 25

250 mx1.example.org Hello []
mail from:support@xxxxxxxxxxx
250 2.1.0 support@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx OK
rcpt to:danny@xxxxxxxxxx
550 5.7.1 Unable to relay for danny@xxxxxxxxxx
221 2.0.0 mx1.example.org Service closing transmission channel

support@xxxxxxxxxxx = valid local sender
danny@xxxxxxxxxx = valid external receipient

If this is the case (out of the box), how can you test sending email
to a foreign/external domain from a telnet session or without a MUA. I tried adding the server IP. No luck. No Connectors.
