One of my 8th grade students, Tehilla Ziegler, won 2nd place in this essay
contest. Her essay about Israel and the Gaza War was awesome! Students from
America, Canada and Israel could enter the contest. Three winners from each
grade were chosen. To read the winning essays, see below. We were the only
entry from Israel! I thought you all might like to know about this for next
year.

Three student prizes were awarded in each essay
category, and we recognized the teacher of each first place winner with an
honorarium.
First place: $100
Second place: $50
Third place: $25
Teacher honorarium: $50
Certificates were awarded to all entrants.
A note to the teachers:
Thank you for encouraging your students to participate
in our contest. This year, after receiving triple the number of entries as
last year, and with so many of these essays well-written and interesting, we
decided to add an
honorable mention category.
