"Bullying in School: Prevention and Intervention" taught online by an expert
Leslie Bowman from Virginia, the
US, is actually the first time we are offering a course taught by an instructor
who is not physically present
in Israel. We are making further efforts to provide attractive, cutting-edge
content developed by US academics
- at a price not exceeding that of locally-produced courses.

You can find the course rationale provided by the developer at
 http://www.etni.org/courses/bullying.htm

Taking into account that the Bagrut date is May 18, we have set the start date
to May 20. The 56-hour course
is only 8 weeks long (over by mid-August). Due to its asynchronous nature it
can be taken even if you are
planning to travel: you can log in from any computer, and there are no fixed
hours. Registration is open to
teachers, coordinators and counsellors (not restricted to English teachers -
teachers of any subject can
register provided their English is adequate). There will be a f2f meeting; the
rest of the learning will occur
online, totally asynchronously. To register, please send an e-mail to

 admin@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

requesting a registration form. The course is with a 'gmul' (recognized also
for teachers on Sabbatical -
please indicate your status).

You can browse other online courses we are offering at
 http://www.schiffman-institute.com/moo (click on Available courses,
then on a blue circle with an "i" to the right of a course title to read the
course info) - all these courses
are 56 hours long, with a gmul, and totally asynchronous (except for a f2f
meeting required by the Ministry).
The [constantly growing] list includes at the moment

 * Creating and Managing an Educational Web Site with MS FrontPage (Instructor:
Lev Abramov)
 * Planning and Implementing Web-Based EFL Projects (Facilitator: Peter
Freedman)
 * Efficient EFL Instruction in a Web-Enabled Computer Lab (Instructor: Lev
Abramov)
 * Mining the Internet for EFL (Instructor: Dr. James Backer)
 * Integrating Internet Resources into Classroom EFL Teaching. (Instructor: Lev
Abramov)

Please spread the word around doing a favor both to us and to all the
colleagues who are not on the list.

In the nearest future, we'll be able to add more online courses to this list
(click on Courses in Development,
then on a blue circle with an "i" to the right of a course title to read the
course info):

* An Alternative Pedagogy for Teaching Poetry in Israeli EFL Classes
(Instructor: Dr. James Backer)
* Collaborative EFL Learning And Teaching On The Web (Facilitator: Peter
Freedman)

Send an e-mail in advance to let us know you are interested in a course that
is still in development stage: as
soon as it is ready we'll notify you.

Do not hesitate to e-mail me for further information. We are proud of the
quality of our courses and, should
need be, can put you in touch with people who have already take our courses and
can tell you about their
impression and experience.

Yours -

Lev
