[etni] Disengagement novel

According to the curriculum one of the goals of teaching literature is to 
expose students to the English speaking culture OUTSIDE of Israel that is 
foreign to them.  Expose them to British, American, Australian, South African 
culture through stories and novels.   For this reason I, too, do not see the 
value of including the disengagement novel as English literature for the bagrut.

Mistake to reject disengagement novel
The Jerusalem Post - May 25, 2009

A novel detailing the 2005 Gush Katif disengagement will now be included on 
the list of books being vetted for use in an English Literature section of 
the country's matriculation exams, after it was initially rejected out of 
hand by an Education Ministry employee.
