This is a very important referendum, which if passed, will provide funding for environmental initiatives and projects implemented by students and student groups on campus. Please circulate widely. ------------------------------------------------------ The University of Toronto Environmental Resource Network (UTERN), an umbrella organization for student organizations, academic programs and U of T facilities, has proposed a 50-cent, fully refundable, non-academic fee. Despite an already thriving environmental community, few groups have the funding to undertake large-scale projects to improve the quality of environment on campus. The Environmental Levy will change all that. The proposed Environmental Levy will go towards funding campus greening initiatives on all three U of T campuses. Possible projects include ecological restoration, green energy and energy-efficiency projects, composting programs, community gardens, green rooftops, and more. UTERN would act as a grant-giving body, evaluating project proposals and ensuring that funds are allocated to the projects that students want. Finally, here is a levy that ensures no one is excluded. After all, the environment is something we all share. We all traverse the earth, breathe the air, suffer from the smog, and experience the environment in a million indescribable ways every single day. VOTE IN SUPPORT OF THE UTERN ENVIRONMENTAL LEVY - IT'S SMALL CHANGE FOR A BIG CHANGE! Students can vote from Monday, April 07 (beginning at 6:00am) to Wednesday, April 09 (closing at 11:30pm) by clicking here - www.rosi.utoronto.ca .
