Free beer or wine. Some good and terrible art and me.

Shape Arts’ annual open exhibition will be hosted by its patron, Yinka
Shonibare MBE, at his Guest Projects space in Hackney, London, from 4 February
2016 and we'd love for you to attend the opening night from 6pm on 4 February.

The Shape Open 2016 theme ‘My Life’ encouraged both disabled and non-disabled
artists to creatively express life through the lens of disability. Using an
exciting range of mediums such as blood, machinery and modified everyday
objects to express their ideas, the artists drew on memory, nostalgia and
processes of internal reflection to explore the complexity of this year’s theme.

Now in its fourth year, Shape Open is an annual call-out with a
disability-focused theme. Exhibiting artists are selected by a panel of arts
industry judges, with the artist who produces the most exceptional work winning
a £1000 cash prize. The prize will be presented by Yinka in person at the close
of the exhibition.
Previous Shape Open artists have gone on to exhibit at Southbank Centre, The
Victoria and Albert museum and more.

Yinka will be giving a talk on becoming an artist on Wednesday 10 February at
7pm. Tickets available at

This event is currently sold out, however you may join the waiting list as
additional tickets will be released at a later date.
