Adam, I'm not clear on what you're describing here. Is it that you've applied 
current default configuration, and that after doing so, your F... key-bindings 
do not work ? All of them ? (F7 etc too? <Ctrl> etc too ?)

I think what you want is output.activate

Users can unsubscribe from the list by sending email to 
emelfm2-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with 'unsubscribe' in the subject field or by 
logging into the web interface.
