On the BRP this morning I had good luck with warblers seeing my FOY
Worm-eating and several more I'd seen before. But what took the cake I
must say was finding two Great Horned Owls side by side. I'd seen this owl
in wild before but two snuggled close was unreal. These were located
approx 1/4 mile north of the Ox Creek gate on the downslope side in a large
oak tree approx 50-75 feet away at eye level. Looking downslope the tree
has a prominent large limb horizontal on the right (south side) and there
they sat. In the photo you can tell their necks did a 180 as they look
over their tail feathers! They were there when I arrive about 9am and in
the same place when left about noon. Back light wasn't particularly good
for photos. BTW, parkway is open to Ox Creek Rd. again.
