A total of 30 birders attended today's Blue Ridge Audubon bird walk at
Jackson Park, and they did not go home disappointed.  Because the group was
so large, Kevin Burke led half around the bottomland Trail and I took the
other half around the ponds.  The park was very birdy featuring good numbers
of breeding species along with quite a number of late migrants.  We amassed
68 species including 13 warbler species.  By far the biggest highlight was 2
different singing Connecticut Warblers, with each group finding one on their
walks.  Other notable species included 2 Veery, Swainson's Thrush, Baltimore
Oriole, Ovenbird, 3 Magnolia Warblers, Black-throated Blue Warbler, Palm
Warbler, and 2 Canada Warblers.  (The complete bird list is inserted at the
end of this e-mail.)

A good time was had by all!
