Morning!
I the consensus is to cancel the upcoming LOSH meeting due to the CORVID 19
scare the ‘call’ needs to be made sooner rather than later so those of us who
made hotel reservations won’t be charged and so that the caterers at the Zoo
don’t unnecessarily buy food we won’t be using.
Just my 2 cents…
Cheers!

I think that cancelling an in-person meeting would be the prudent course at
this point. Since Phil Miller has made himself available on the 24th for the
PHVA discussion and he’s a very busy guy, I’d like to see us go ahead with that
as a webinar if we can.
If we delay other parts of the meeting and try for in-person, anything before
September might be a challenge for me (July/August is release time for our
captive-bred juveniles).

In Indiana, spring break is next week, but the big state universities will be
switching to online courses after the break for 2 weeks. They’ll play it by ear
after that. Seems like some are preparing for quarantine. I’ve also been sick
and down with flu like symptoms, so even though it’s warming up, the flu season
is still in full force.

At WVU, we are still having classes, but have been instructed to be ready to
move course materials online for the remainder of the semester (of course
spring break is next week). For better or worse, I booked my flight this
morning, and was thrilled with the price! Anyway, they are also discouraging
faculty from travelling, so I’ll play it all by ear. I was smart enough to
include the travel protection.

As of this moment, our university/state has no travel restrictions, but it is
getting more and more likely that we will soon (I would be surprised if we
don’t at some point). Vanderbilt (in Nashville) has already gone to all online
delivery of their courses.

Hi all,
The International Shrike Symposium has been cancelled due to concerns and
travel restrictions related to the corona virus. I would request that those of
you who are planning to attend the Working Group meeting consider the degree of
concern our gathering will result in. Please email your thoughts to the group,
me personally, and/or we can spend a few minutes on the call tomorrow talking
about this.
Thanks,
Amy
