I am typing from an HP right now. Works pretty good, but you end up with Vista.
It's a real memory hog. I have 2 gigs of mem now, and it's better but it's no
desktop. It is nice to sit on the couch with.

I have it on a vinyl covered board so it can breathe, and it doesn't fry your
legs. It's also big enough to use a real mouse. (I hate the touch pads) FWIW
it's a Pavillion DV6000. Nice package, no troubles in 3 years of everyday power
use. (CAD, Web development, emails, graphics, photo processing)

Also Tiger Direct. http://www.tiger.com My desktop is from there, and you can
buy them with XP for the Systemax in-house systems.

now an HP?

Gateway promised the same thing, My current is a gateway, works ok but worn out
completely has been good for 4.5 years, but trying to be productive, a slow
computer kills that.

Bought the gateway at Best Buy, I can't believe what these new ones have
compared to mine, and half the price for 10 times the laptop.

url's bestbuy.com<http://bestbuy.com>)

I won't buy another Dell. If you need a replacement battery, you have to go to
Dell and they extract payment from you by dragging your wallet past your
sphincter. All of 'em may be the same now, but my Compaq runs pretty
well...for a laptop. I have to give it credit...I've run it for 12-14 hours a
day in the Burb on the salt where the interior temp sensor reports 109F...and
it's kept on ticking.

I think I bought one of the last laptops with XP loaded on it. I'm really glad
I didn't have to pay the ransom for a Vista box.
