Well, it's moot now. A buncha stuff came together (or maybe apart would be a better term) and I had to make the decision that it just wouldn't work out, as much as I would have liked to have had the Dooley (Tom, maybe?) as a tow vehicle. The Burb's gonna have to do. Good thing I just sealed the windshield. I guess it's time to put the power steering pump, electric fan and aux transmission cooler in. Might as well put the keyless entry and remote start kit that a friend gave me in, too.

The Monte may have to get back on its wheels and take a trip out into the elements (under a cover) for a while. It'd sure be nice if it could make the trip under its own power. We're in for a spate of nasty weather for the next few days so I'm gonna be a little limited in what I can do...but I'll do what I can.

The fun never stops at the Asylum.

If you sent the link I missed it... I process emails very quickly
these days, I get so many with the business, etc. I am trying out a
new feature of Gmail where it lists a "Priority Inbox" at the top when
I check my mail. I train it to mark messages as "important" (like
work emails) so far it's working.

As for the truck the interior is in decent shape, as you said. I
remember Craig from the list, and his guides which I still use. Great
guy. I agree about leather, it doesn't age as well as cloth. One
trick I've found it to get a junkyard passenger side seat cushion to
replace the drivers side - it makes a world of difference in how
comfortable the seat is.

Will you get rid of the 'Burb? Are you afraid it won't tow the Monte
reliably? Dually trucks are considerably more stable for towing from
what I've read.

Yep. The MPG situation is understood. There are pics of the interior on
the link...I think I sent it...if not, here it is:

It's leather (I would have preferred cloth and I don't care for the color,
but I can live with it) and is in decent shape. Some cracking on the sides
of the seats, but that's about it. I need to talk to Craig (he's a very
long-term member of the Nova list, I met him in Joplin, Mo in 2003) about a
few things before I pull the trigger.

More to follow.

Regarding the '97 C3500, 454 Vortec motor, 112k - you know the big block
will tow well and is a proven platform, but are you prepared for single
digit MPG? My neighbor has a 2500 with 8.1L Vortec, and his MPG is pretty
low.

I'd want to know what shape the interior is in, and what maintenance it
might need for long trips.
