boy, that is a pretty floor. The white trim in 'in' but I'm guessing its because its cheap. (There are two grades of moulding - paint and varnish) . What we do is go look at new houses in our price range to get an idea of what is selling, and what is (the dreaded) 'dated'. We're putting oak baseboard in the oak kitchen. Spendy but very good looking. We finished it ourselves so it doesn't have that 'all in one color and finish sprayed on' look. To paint all the wood work seemed like a forever job and the maintenance on it is more. Wood shows dirt a lot less than white paint. We painted the inside of the atrium door that replaced the slider the same color as the wall only washable enamel. And right now, its needs a serious bucket washing. Jake can hardly see out through the pupkiss. Mary We ordered the floor, and it will be installed on the 28th. Then we can move on to the cabinets. In the mean time, we will be working on the wood trim for the beam in the front room in Oak. It's gonna cost us more, but I don't want 10 different kinds of wood in the house. Nate is pushing to go with white painted trim around the windows and floors. We'll have to look at some pictures and think of the color to decide on that. The sliding door is already white trim, and that may be the way to go. It's more contemporary anyway. |
