This looks like an eclipse platform bug :-\

Not sure if this is related, but under Windows 10 64bit I got "The plugin Needs write access to" as soon as I finish installing the plugin.
Downloaded version from nightly update site is 3.0.0.201602290209
After a few checks I discovered the issue is related to a space in the installation path: it fails for D:\Electronics\Eclipse CPP and it works with D:\Electronics\EclipseCPP
If that's not a big issue I suggest to fix this before releasing: we know how many troubles it will cause :-)
