I'm happy to sign any petition or complaining letter. Trying to get visitor
parking at the moment. Very very frustrating.

Hello Scott
I think it's a very bad idea for the council to ask for a copy of your bank
statement.
I am not sure that the security of the council's computers can be good enough
to hold someone's bank statement securely -- they are short of money and
computer security requires security experts -- not only in setting up the
system but in constantly vetting it as security holes become known and
criminals use them.
It would be useful to know if the other acceptable documents can be used for
identity theft.

I've just applied and provided my bank statement, because I had one

other documents they asked for.
However, it is utterly ludicrous that they are asking for such
information. They must have a system which shows that I have lived in
this house for 15 years. They have electoral roll, council tax,
residents parking records etc. Its not like I haven't ordered visitor
permits before either. Surely the only record they need is to keep a
log of how many visitor permits a household buys in a year? It'll be
blindingly obvious if someone is abusing it.
I shall wait for my visitor permits to arrive and then I will contact
the council to ask how I can be sure they are treating my personal
information confidentially. Should be fun.

because there was insufficient evidence that a copy of something
a council tax bill/bank statement etc. needed to be scanned tothem.
When I telephoned the Council about this they said this would be

I was told that this was to ensure that people were not ordering
permits when they had no right to them.
Surely we can't go along with this.
They must be able to check against the details they already hold,
especially if we already have a resident parking permit.
Any suggestions about what we should do?
