Hi
It is difficult now with the permit renewals. The parking situation on the
surrounding roads seems to be getting worse in recent months where arriving
home from work can be a challenge at times to find a space to park in.
I think there are possibly two contributing factors:
1. Possibly increased numbers of students having cars as the problem is reduced
outside of university term time.
2. Visitors to Brocco on the Park, I fully support the restaurant but I
understand they are meant to have an overspill car park behind the church for
parking but this isn’t advertised nor promoted. I’ve witnessed a number of
their visitors parking blocking driveways etc with complete disregard for
residents.
I do wonder whether it may be worth contacting the council to ask them to
review both the number of student car parking allocations and potentially to
consider whether it would be feasible to make our streets permit holders only
at all times to resolve the problem.
I appreciate this is a little of a moan but I’m sure a lot of us have all felt
the frustration of paying for a parking permit and then either not being able
to park or struggling to find spaces. I’m always mindful that parking
elsewhere shifts the overcrowded parking situation onto another street.
Kind regards
James

Hi
Same happened to me. I appealed but lost. There is a total lack of care. I
really think there is no sense that the council serves us. They are
capricious regarding whether or not to send reminders and now we don't even
have a permit to look at.

Hi
I didn't know my car needed renewing until I saw a parking ticket on it!
The council told me they post reminders but can't be relied on as they may
not be received - which I don't believe. I think they just don't post them.
Why they can't send an email I do not know. So I would advise everyone to
check their permit renewal date!
I used a visitor's permit while waiting 36 hours, just in case.
Friends told me to contest it because it was my car parked outside my house
on my road. I didn't though.
I'm pretty fed up with the parking permit saga in this area though.

I've just renewed my parking permit, in the nick of time as they didn't send
out any reminder!
I found payment online straightforward. However as I was doing this on
expiry day I was left unsure when the new one would be live, as they said it
would be in 36 hours from payment but gave no specific date. So as it was
over the weekend I felt had to use my visitors permits (Sat and Mon), just
in case....
I rang the council yesterday who confirmed the renewal had gone through but
also that reminders cannot be relied upon now as that they are not always
sent out.

I had a trying time renewing this time. I did it online but didn't use the
green permit renewal button. I didn't recognise the term green permit.
Payment wasn't taken so I rang to find out what I'd done wrong. (Not used
the green permit button). I was passed from one person to another until the
line went dead. Then went back online used the other renewal button and
everything went through fine.
I've just applied for visitor permits. You have to put in your residents
permit number they check it and get back to you for payment I think. At
least that's what I'm waiting for according to an email.

Hi,
My parking permit has now expired. I applied for a renewal weeks ago but so
far haven't had a request for payment. Should I be getting worried?
