...and if they're *officially* allowed to be open till late, it means you
have to add an extra hour (at least) to that time before customers have
left (banging car doors, revving up engines and shouting around in the
process). No, I'm not tarnishing everyone with the same brush - it only
needs *one* lot like that per night to impact negatively on neighbouring
residential areas.

Plus, Nonna's really doesn't strike me as struggling for survival - they've
been ever so busy from the first day they were allowed to reopen.

Nonnas have tried to get extended opening hours in the past for exactly
the same reason - to enable their business to be viable. And we fought the
application back then.



As far as I am concerned, if a business operating under current planning
restrictions cannot be viable, they should close or move. They know what
the limits are and should run their business accordingly, and should not go
crying to the authorities if they are not astute enough to make their
business work. As for the Covid-19 restrictions, everyone is in the same
boat, and individual businesses should not be asking for special
considerations.



The government are pushing for relaxation of planning restrictions around
new housing, so there is unfortunately an atmosphere of businesses being
willing to exploit people and the environment for their own personal gain.
If Nonnas win this application, every single other business on Ecclesall
Road will apply and get the same.



Ecclesall Road is bad enough as it is, so we should fight to maintain the
current planning and licensing restrictions.
