In the first instance their visiting and safeguarding guidelines are useful:
DRAFT STATEMENT ON SAFEGUARDING AND PUBLIC HEALTH
Please familiarise yourself with this statement which may well change shortly
as we consult voluntary sector organisations and other experts.
"We take public health and safeguarding very seriously. As such, we ask anyone
using this group to offer or receive help to observe the following guidelines:
* Wash hands thoroughly before engaging in any public activity e.g. leafleting
* Do not engage in any public activity if you are showing any coronavirus
symptoms
* Do not enter anyone's house if you don't know them. Stay a metre or more away
from anyone who is self-isolating
* If offering to shop for supplies never ask for money up front or for a bank

Just trying to think how the coronavirus volunteer response could work.
Some of you may have experience of something similar so know how it could work,
so do make suggestions, but what about this for starters?
- We identify a lead person for each street/road (2 if it gets busy and
probably 2 for Everton Road).
- We circulate this list to people living in ECCO and if help is needed they
contact one of the lead people (people would probably prefer to do this than to
ask for help via ECCO talk).
- The lead people hold a list of contact details for the people who have
offered help (plus maybe the type of help, i.e. shopping/dog walking).
- The lead people contact the person needing help to get specific details of
the help needed.
- The lead person then arranges the help via one of the volunteers.
- The lead person keeps in regular contact (phone or email)with the person
requesting help until they are well.
- The lead person keeps brief details of the numbers and types of help
requested.
Things to think about:
- Do we offer the service to everyone living in the ECCO area (not just
members), in which case we would need to circulate the information house to
house.
- Do we need the lead people to be in specific streets, or do we just need 7
or 8 people willing to take on the role regardless of where they live in ECCO?
It probably wouldn't matter.
- We need a person to compile the initial list of help on offer and to keep it
updated and recirculated to the lead people.
- I suspect that most help requested will be for shopping. We need to think
how money changes hand. Does the lead person have a float to reimburse the
volunteer and the person requesting the help repays the money when well?
Is there an easier/better system?
