   Vacancy

Public Programme Curator

Deadline: Wednesday 22nd November

Jan 2018 – Dec 2018

Part-time, 2 days per week for 12 months

Fee: £7,800/ annum, for a one year period.

Bloc Projects is an artist-led project space in the centre of Sheffield, UK, which presents exhibitions, events, residencies, exchange projects and educational activities. Established in 2002, the organisation provides a platform for early-mid career artists, encouraging experimentation, collaboration across disciplines and critical dialogue among artists, audiences and partners in the city and further afield.

Commencing in January 2018, Bloc Projects will be delivering our Artist Development Programme (ADP) to provide resources and opportunities to artists locally, nationally and internationally by focusing on a range of talks, discussions, one-on-one sessions and an international artistic exchange.

We are therefore looking for a Public Programme Curator to carry out the delivery of the main components of the Artist Development Programme.

The post-holder will work with the Bloc Projects Director and Board of Directors to deliver the following:

*Curate, select and deliver a monthly programme of engaging public
     discussions and talks.*

The Curator of Public Programme will be responsible for putting together a monthly talks and discussions programme that is both engaging, and inclusive. The aim is to develop critical thinking around contemporary art by inviting speakers from various backgrounds, who are specialists in their field. The programme will be loosely focused on issues concerning early to mid career artists/makers and will aim to address issues on a regional, national and international scale.

*Coordinate bi-monthly portfolio review programme for artists and
     makers based in Sheffield.*

One of our aims at Bloc Projects is to provide support and guidance for early to mid career artists/makers, and a large part of this is offering one-to-one sessions with experienced individuals across the arts. The successful applicant will be responsible for selecting the individuals to lead the portfolio reviews; managing the applications from artists/maker within the city and ensuring a breadth of skills are catered for.

*Work closely with the Director and board to develop a legacy
strategy for the continuation of the public programme.*

The role of Curator of Public Programme forms a key part of our Artist Development Programme (ADP), which will act as a pilot for a longer standing programme of developmental opportunities for artists/makers regionally, nationally and internationally. The successful applicant will therefore be expected to work closely with the Bloc Projects Director and Board of Directors to develop a secure strategy for the future of the Artists Development Programme.
