Hi David, I know I said I wanted to leave the list and thought I had
unsubscribed but I have still been getting e-mails and my ears have pricked
up like a rabbit's now that you want to discuss authors and different books
you've read. One of the reasons I was going to leave the list is that I
don't have a scanner and when it was my turn I had to ask you guys to send a
copy of the book for me as a scan but other times I have managed to obtain
the book from Audible but seeing I am still here may I stay even though I
don't always read the books and might not be able to choose a book that
someone else has scanned.

I know I have been throwing various ideas around for a while, in an effort
to keep the list going in some form. By all means please ask your two
friends, and any other parties who might be keen to join us. I thought you
Trish might leave us if we discussed other books, but it is good that you
wish to stay.
So, for the moment, we will read Shell's book and discuss it in May, but, I
think we should just talk about any favourite authors and books, and if
something comes up which we all wish to read, or at least most of us, then
we do that as and when, but not necessarily every month.
I hope everyone is happy with that arrangement. Please shout if you are
not.
Clare, I would love to have Voldi back with us. His book talk always amazed
me and sent me in directions I would not otherwise have considered. Seeing
as there are now no stringent rules to read any particular books, I wonder
if he might join us.
Let us know what you think. I may well work on Ian Macrae, as he reads a
lot and is never short of a word or two.

Clare, I am 99 per cent sure elaine would be interested in joining. I have
held off asking her because David said not to ask new members, but if we are
ready I'll sound her out. She is an ultra-avid reader, reads more books
than I do, which is going some! I have someone else who is interested in
joining us, too. You know her, Clare, it's Linda Welding. Should I ask
them both?
I know I was in favour of keeping to one book only, but that was partly
because I thought that was the rule we had set, and partly because of my
brief but nightmarish experience of bookworms, where I had over a hundred
emails in a day, and the majority of them were not book related at all. If
we stick to discussing books seriously, then I'm happy to make it a general
discussion, perhaps having one book per month that we all agree to read as
we have been doing. I really hope we don't have to close the list, it's
great having people to discuss books with. The RNIB talking books arena
seems to spend all its time discussing the technology enabling us to read
rather than discussing books, and I can only take so much of that.

I rather like the idea of being able to talk about any books. This doesn't
work very well in the Worms any more, but I think it would with the people
we have here. Trish, do you still think Elaine would be interested in
