My message about Annette must have been confusing to anyone who didn't know her but had bothered to read it. I meant her step-dad was the station-master. Clare----- Original Message ----- From: "Elaine Harris (Rivendell)" <elaineharris@xxxxxxxxxxx>

I stayed with Annette Brown at Station House in Tankersley and found it fascinating, stepping out directly on to the platform. Really evocative. Perfect story-book material. Not sure if it was a closed branchline by then or if express trains still roared through. Sorry, not books, but I think her mum and step-dad split up later though can't be sure. The last I heard of her was in 1980; she had married a man named Jim Edwards and I think they worked with someone who was on the same Guide Dog training-course as I was. Some people will remember Annette Brown from our year at school (whatever happened to her?). She lived in the old station-master's house at Tankersley, near Barnsley. In fact I think her dad was the old station-master. Can't remember what job he moved on to, if any. He was a good bit older than her mum. Her parents had both lost their former spouses and each had a girl and boy of very similar ages. Annette's stepsister was a month younger than she was. Sorry, nothing to do with books. Clare
