Peter was a very complicated character and although his behaviour was terrible
at times, the author made us understand why he was acting that way and the
stress he was under. I bet we all have relatives who the family say they were
never the same when they came back from the war and not often for the best. It
is truly unimaginable what these people saw and had to do at this time is
really beyond our comprehension.
I think Louisa's characters were so enticing because they were so
multi-dimentional and changed throughout the book.
