Trish, you have answered a question for me. I didn't particularly enjoy Pillars of the Earth, and didn't hurry to read the sequel, so that I now didn't know whether I had ever got to it. Well, I would have remembered a Carys, as names are something I always remember when everything else has gone, and my cousin has a daughter with this name. As I haven't read it, perhaps I will.
