I agree Ian, that language used then is offensive to people now. I really
don't think such programs should be shown on the telly any more. But I'm also
not in favor of banning things, so feel they should be available to buy on dvd
or in books, but carry a warning.
It does make you wonder what terms we use freely now will become offensive in
the future. I made a terrible mistake recently at a wedding when I asked if
someone was albino. I had no idea at all that terminology had changed since I
was at school and I caused terrible offense and upset to two very nice ladies
without meaning to at all.
I think the worst book I read for this was an old James Bond novel, though I
forget which one it was now.
