The first of hers I read was the one about the violinist which I found well
written with a plot which kept you guessing. Others I've read have been less
rewarding. By and large they are too long by about a third. there was one
which featured the woman sergeant as the main investigator about a murder on
the Essex coast which I eventually gave up on for a number of reasons. Length
was certainly one: it seemed to be going on for centuries. but also there is
something about her as an american writing about supposedly English types which
grates. And often there are those annoying American idioms which crop up in
the mouths of supposedly very British characters. So I've really given up on
her.
