Zachariah,

I set up a USB to parallel converter for a friend of mine who needed two parallel ports on her computer, but only had one. She has been running her Juliet Classic successfully with this arrangement for the last nine months. I can't comment on the differences between USB and parallel connections, except to say that the internal circuitry of the converter seems to have no trouble sorting things out. I think of it as just another form of magic, although I'd be quite interested in anyone's explanation of how it all works.

Steve

Hi,
do you know anyone who has actually gotten this to work?
The USB cable does not carry as many lines as a parallel cable and it would seem likely that it would not do the job as it would be unlikely to have the proper signals to pass on to the parallel.
It would be interesting to hear if anyone has got this to work.
thanks

I have installed Duxbury 10.5 on the new computer, using a USB to parallel converter. the converter creates LPT3, not LPT1. When I try to emboss using the Juliet, I get an error, minus one. Something like, 'print failed'. No information. I have installed the Juliet as a generic, text-only printer in Windows, setting DBT to use LPT3.

The minus one error is the same one I get when the printer cable is disconnected, but System/devices does see the LPT3. Any suggestions where to look next???

thanks,

Ann
