Carmela,
There are two keys used for quotation marks. They serve different purposes
and are not interchangeable.
If you are looking for ordinary quotes, "It's the shift of the apostophe
key," said Catherine. If you are looking for a quote within a quote the
key is the accent grave which is located to the left of the number one on
the main section of the keyboard. "In your recent message, you said `Which
key is used for single quotes?`, and George replied, `The apostrophe.`
